With the fundamental belief that every student can learn, the primary purpose of Garnett Unified School District No. 365 is to
provide each student the learning opportunity for him/her to establish a foundation for success, both now and in the future.

Anderson County Jr/Sr High principal, Kenny Kellstadt, was recognized by KASSP (Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals) as the Area II High School Principal for 2011. Mr. Kellstadt received this prestigious honor last November at the Fall KASSP Conference held in Wichita, KS. Congratulations Mr. Kellstadt!
Congratulations to Katlin Sullins, GEC 3rd Grade teacher, for winning the Kansas Horizon Award. The Kansas Horizon Award program allows all school districts in the state an opportunity to nominate one elementary and one secondary teacher for the award. To be eligible for the award, teachers must have successfully completed their first year of teaching and have performed in such a way as to distinguish themselves as outstanding.
This honor was awarded to 43 Kansas elementary schools in recognition of their high academic achievement. To be given this award, schools must have reached the Standard of Excellence in both reading and mathematics for 2011. They must also have met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in both reading and mathematics along with high level of attendance. Congratulations Mustangs!

Beginning on Monday January 23, 2012, the school district implemented its new Parent Notification Service. The new service will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone, text, or email within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event. During the January Board of Education meeting, the new building officially received its name: Garnett Elementary School.

The district, each of the schools, club sponsors and sports coaches have shared their calendars on the web. This means you get real-time updates on all of the websites. If a tournament gets rescheduled those changes will appears on the calendar as soon as the coach makes the change on their computer or smart phone.
Speaking of smart phones you can subscribe to any of these calendars on your smart phone, iPad or computer. You can even add it to your own website if you have one. Click on the +Google Calendar button on the bottom left of a calendar to give it a try. Each calendar is printer friendly; just be sure to use the built in Print button located at the top right of every calendar.

This year the school district is adding a nutrition education tool for parents and students with MyNutrition. MyNutrition helps children learn about nutrition by linking them to a series of informative and fun menu planning tips, food pyramid guidance, and more.
Parents will find articles, tools, recipes, newsletters, links and challenges. Students will have access to Read It, Play It and games that teach healthy habits. This new web based software will begin in August for elementary students and parents. More Info...
