2ND QUARTER REPORT CARDS
The 2nd quarter ended on December 22. Grade cards will go out in January 11 parent packets. Feel free to visit with your child’s teacher(s) if you have questions. Most teachers are available from 3:15-3:45.
NO SCHOOL JANUARY 18
USD #365 schools will not have classes for students on Monday, January 18. Staff development meetings are planned for district employees.
SITE COUNCIL MEETING
The next Site Council Meeting will be held January 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the GEC library. Among other topics, facilities and curriculum issues will be discussed.
STUDENT BULLPUP OF THE DAY
Student of the Day recognition finishes up in January. We continue to recognize students each day. It is always interesting to see the different displays and learn more about our students. If your child missed his/her day due to illness or bad weather and it hasn’t been rescheduled, call Mrs. Suderman at 448-5434. *Students of the Day are listed on the monthly breakfast menus so be sure to check the menu for your child’s name. Parents may join their child for breakfast or lunch (Breakfast - $2.00 and Lunch - $3.50) by contacting the office ahead to make a reservation.
BULLPUP ASSEMBLIES
On Friday, January 8, the Bullpup Pride Assemblies will be held. Due to our enrollment numbers and limited space, two separate assemblies will be held in the multi-purpose room to honor our students for their first semester accomplishments as follows.
Kdg - 9:00 a.m. Grade 1 - 10:00 a.m.
As always, family and friends are invited to attend.
COATS/HATS/GLOVES
This time of year, the lost and found is very popular. Please mark your child’s coat, hat, etc. so items can be identified if lost. Be sure students dress warmly. Outdoor recess is held during the winter months whenever possible.
100th DAY OF SCHOOL
IPC students will be celebrating the 100th day of school on January 25 (if we don’t have snow days) with many fun activities.
KANSAS DAY
We celebrate Kansas Day on January 29. Visit with your family about our great state. Can you name the state symbols? Take a family day trip to a park, museum, or historical area. Visit the www.KSHS.org website for Kansas historical information.
HEALTH HEADLINES
Be sure the IPC office has current phone numbers where you (or a family member or friend) can be reached during school hours as we continue with flu season. A follow up H1N1 vaccination clinic is being planned for later in January. More information will be available soon.
PTO SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Carnival Planning Meeting
If you aren’t familiar with the GEC/IPC PTO carnival, you have missed out on one of the highlights of our student’s school year. This big event provides an evening of family fun with a variety of booths at ACJSHS. In addition, a concession stand is available and raffle prizes are announced periodically throughout the evening. The PTO is looking for parents who are willing to help in any capacity, big or small. Thanks so those parents who have returned carnival volunteer forms. Carnival Planning will be one of the topics at the January 25 meeting in the GEC library at 7:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend but would like to help, call Dawn Weirich at 785-204-0605.
Boxtops
PTO will sponsor a boxtop contest in February before the Carnival. Collect boxtops and keep them in a safe place at home until the contest begins. Students will be able to earn free carnival tickets through the boxtop contest. More information will be available in the February newsletter.
PRINCIPAL’S PEN
I will be on maternity leave the month of February. Please contact Lynnette in the office regarding questions or concerns you may have during this time. She will be able to contact me or another administration in the district.
Enjoy your break and make sure you take time to read daily with your child. Happy New Year!
