Health and Physical Education

7th and 8th Physical Education
These classes have been participating in a variety of different activities from running on the track to Chaos Ball and Ultimate Football. These activities have given the students the opportunity to work in teams and push themselves individually.
Freshmen Health
The Freshmen Health classes have been learning about Mental, Emotional, and Social Health, and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs. Throughout the ATD Unit the students were able to wear Drunk Goggles and test their abilities while wearing them. They also participated in an Emphysema activity, which allowed them to see what it is like to have Emphysema and they saw what smokeless tobacco does to a person's mouth. They are also writing Drug papers over a specific drug, in order to learn more about the drug and the effects of drugs on the body.
The last unit that they will cover will be Human Sexuality, during this unit they will be learning about the Male and Female Reproductive System, STDs, HIV/AIDS, and Pregnancy.
Health Science Careers
The Health Science students have been learning about Medical Terminology and Abbreviations. They have been working on Power Points over body system, which include a description and medical terms of the system. They will also be working on either a medical abbreviations story or a disease research paper. The medical abbreviations story, is a story that they make up, using medical abbreviations. The disease research paper, is a paper over a specific disease that also includes medical abbreviations.
