With the fundamental belief that every student can learn, the primary purpose of Garnett Unified School District No 365 is to provide each student the learning opportunity for him/her to establish a foundation for success, both now and in the future
Core Beliefs USD 365
1. All students will read at or above grade level.
2. Success in reading for all students in all grades must begin with effective teaching in grades K-3.
3. The community's involvement is essential in setting learning standards and goals for each school and the district.
4. High achievement for all students results from addressing the l l learning needs of each student
5. Everyoone in the community has a vital role in creating quality schools.
6. All students must be prepared for life-long learning.
7. The commitment, trust and support of the community are needed in developing long-range plans that provide safe, functional and affordable schools.
DISTRICT GOALS
*USD 365 WILL ENSURE THAT EVERY CHILD READS AT GRADE LEVEL OR ABOVE.
Objective #1: Key measurements will be identified that would provide achievement data.
Objective #2: The Reading Recovery Program will remain a primary component of the District’s reading program by training al K-3 teachers.
Objective #3: Grade level benchmarks will be incorporated into the K-12 curriculum.
*USD 365 WILL CREATE A SAFE AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS THROUGH LONG-RANGE FACILITIES PLANNING.
Objective #1: Review facility needs and maintenance issues.
*USD 365 WILL ADDRESS AND FACILITATE INDIVIDUAL LEARNING NEEDS OF STUDENTS.
Objective #1: Determine current status of efforts to remediate.
Objective #2: Utilize current data to address individual needs.
*USD 365 WILL PROMOTE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN THE DISTRICT'S PROCESS OF SETTING THE STANDARDS AND GOALS FOR THEIR SCHOOL.
Objective #1: Make better use of the site council.
*PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITITES FOR STUDENTS TO DEVELOP CAREER AND CITIZENSHIP ACCOUNTABILITY.
Objective #1: Align career awaremess/preparation curriculum K-12. Career clusters and career pipeline.
Objective #2: Flexible preparation of students regardless of the career path they take.
Objective #3: Develop independent/critical thinking skills in all students.
