Music Notes

by Bonnie Kubacka
August 18, 2008

"He-llo Bull-pups!"

Music at IPC has changed locations, but the great learning and fun is still the same! Feel free to visit our new home in Room #21.

IPC students have the opportunity to explore the world of music through many learning avenues. Kindergarten students focus on the musical concepts of steady beat, high/low pitch, fast/slow tempo, long/short/repeated sound/ pitches, melodic direction and singing voice. First graders will continue to review and reinforce these core music concepts as well as expand solfege singing, learn rudimentary rhythm reading skills, learn orchestral instruments, and explore classical composers and their works.

Activities that reinforce early music concepts and address the National Music Standards are singing, expressive movement/dance, story telling, dramatic play, purposeful listening, rudimentary vocal/instrumental improvisation, singing games, elementary dictation and sound exploration. Mrs. Kubacka implements Kodaly pedagogy into the music curriculum.
