A Message of Appreciation to Our Food Service Team

As we begin another school year, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts of our Food Service Department. Their dedication to student health, nutrition, and innovation continues to elevate the dining experience across our district.
Over the summer and into the new school year, the food service team has been hard at work preparing for exciting changes and improvements that directly benefit our students.
Highlights of their recent accomplishments include:
- Expanded Meal Options: Students now have more choices than ever before:
- High School: 5 meal options
- Junior High: 4 meal options
- Elementary: 3 meal options
These options are designed to give students healthy, appealing choices that suit their preferences.
- Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Grant: Beginning in October, elementary students will enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables, including exotic options they may not have tried before, thanks to this exciting new grant.
- Heartland Farm to School Grant: This grant will help us build a sustainable, locally sourced food program. Plans include community gardens, fresh protein options, and more nutritious offerings for students across the district.
- Local Beef Sourcing: We are proud to now serve locally sourced beef in our school meals, supporting both student nutrition and our local agricultural community.
- Fresh Produce Initiative: We are actively seeking fresh produce donations from community members. If you’re interested in contributing, please include the name, date, and source of the produce so we can ensure proper tracking and safety.
- Greeley Kitchen Remodel: Renovations are underway to allow fresh meals to be prepared on-site, enhancing both quality and variety for our students.
- Staff Training: Team members participated in trainings to stay up to date on new state regulations, ensuring compliance and excellence in food safety and service.
These initiatives reflect the department’s commitment to student wellness, community engagement, and continuous improvement.
Please join us in thanking our outstanding food service professionals for their creativity, care, and commitment to nourishing our students every day.
With appreciation,
Brett Linn
